IPL 2025: Complete List of Captains for All 10 Teams in Season 18

Delhi Capitals on Friday revealed their skipper for IPL 2025 after a prolonged wait, appointing Axar Patel as their captain for the 18th season of the lucrative tournament, as the franchise hunts for the elusive trophy. Axar, 31, has been with the Delhi Capitals for the past six years and was retained for a massive Rs 16.5 crore.

While Axar’s IPL captaincy experience is minimal, he has led Gujarat in domestic cricket and was India’s T20I vice-captain earlier this year. With all the captains now officially confirmed, here’s the complete list of skippers set to lead their teams in IPL 2025:

Rajat Patidar was named as the new captain of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for IPL 2025 last month. Under the former skipper, Faf du Plessis, the team secured fourth place in IPL 2024, winning seven of their 14 matches but falling to Rajasthan in the Eliminator.

Shreyas Iyer was named the captain of the Punjab Kings for IPL 2025 in January, after being bought for Rs 26.75 crore during the mega-auction. The team, under the former captains Shikhar Dhawan and Sam Curran, had ended ninth in IPL 2024, winning just five matches out of 14.

Axar Patel was appointed captain of the Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025, taking over from Rishabh Pant, who left the team ahead of the mega-auction. Under Pant's leadership, Delhi secured sixth place with seven wins in 14 matches.

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders appointed Ajinkya Rahane as their captain for IPL 2025. Venkatesh Iyer was named his vice-captain, and Rahane now faces the task of upholding a proud legacy.

Rishabh Pant was appointed as the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2025 in January after his record-breaking acquisition for a massive Rs 27 crore. Under KL Rahul's previous captaincy, LSG finished seventh in IPL 2024 with seven wins in 14 games.
