India A Faces Challenge as Australia A Pursues Victory in First Unofficial Test

India A's batting collapse in their first innings proved costly as Australia A took the upper hand on day three of the first Unofficial Test in Mackay. Chasing a target of 225 runs, Australia A ended the day at 139 for three, needing just 86 more runs for victory. Captain Nathan McSweeney and Beau Webster were at the crease with scores of 47 and 19, respectively, as the Indian bowlers struggled to claim wickets in the second innings.
McSweeney, a strong candidate for the Australian Test opener position against India, built a solid 54-run partnership with Webster after Australia A fell to 85 for three. In contrast, India A managed to recover from their dismal first innings of 107, scoring 312 in their second innings.
Sai Sudharsan, who resumed on 96, completed his century with a score of 103, while Devdutt Padikkal contributed 88 runs, adding only eight runs to his overnight score. The pair shared a crucial 196-run partnership for the third wicket.
The Australian bowling attack, spearheaded by Fergus O'Neill (4/55) and Todd Murphy (3/77), made key breakthroughs that stifled the Indian batting effort, which ultimately lacked the resilience needed to extend their lead.
