Harbhajan Singh Announces ₹1 Crore Reward for First-Class Cricket at BCCI AGM

Harbhajan Singh Announces ₹1 Crore Reward for First-Class Cricket at BCCI AGMFormer Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh shared some key updates from the BCCI Annual General Meeting held on September 28. He said that the board has decided to give players a reward of ₹1 crore if they play more than 14 first-class matches in a season, as a way to keep them motivated and encouraged.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) held its much-awaited Annual General Meeting on Sunday and made some big decisions. One major point of focus was how to get more young players to take part in first-class cricket. To push players to stay active in domestic matches, the board came up with a special plan. Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh was present at the meeting as Punjab Cricket Association’s representative shared a few important updates after the discussions ended.

“It has been decided that if a player plays more domestic matches in a season, he will get more money, this will be an incentive for teams to reach the finals of domestic tournaments. If a cricketer plays 14 first-class matches a season, he will get an additional match fee of Rs 1 crore,” Harbhajan Singh said.

Mithun Manhas Elected BCCI President Unopposed

In its Annual General Meeting, the BCCI officially named Mithun Manhas as the new president of the board. He was elected unopposed, becoming only the third cricketer after Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny to take up this role. The 45-year-old Manhas earlier served as the Director of Cricket for the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. Along with him, the new board has Rajeev Shukla as vice-president, Devajit Saikia as secretary, and A. Raghuram Bhat as treasurer.

For the first time, someone from the Jammu & Kashmir association will lead Indian cricket, with Mithun Manhas taking charge as BCCI president. His appointment has brought joy to the region, and former India cricketer Parvez Rasool, the first player from J&K to play for the country, called it a proud moment. “It’s a proud moment for all of us that Jammu and Kashmir’s representation is going to the BCCI as its president, and that’s a big achievement for us,” Rasool told RevSportz.

Rasool also used this chance to ask for better cricket facilities in the state. He said J&K has good talent but very poor infrastructure. “We have only one ground, no stands for spectators, no proper washrooms, no academy, and very few facilities,” he explained. He urged the board to build academies in districts, improve grounds, and appoint good coaches, adding, “This is not just my request, but the demand of the whole of J&K.Infrastructure makes a player.”
