Gujarat Titans Crush Rajasthan Royals by 77 Runs as Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill Shine in IPL 2026

Rashid Khan starred with the ball, while Shubman Gill played a great innings with the bat as the Gujarat Titans crushed the Rajasthan Royals in their 11th match of IPL 2026 on Saturday, May 9. After being sent in to bat first, GT made a strong 229/4 riding on an 84 from captain Gill. The bowlers backed well to bowl the Royals out for just 152 to bag a 77-run win at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Rashid starred with the ball as he picked up four wickets with his wily bowling.

He outclassed the likes of Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey to turn the tables on its heads. He took two in an over, first getting a well-set Jurel for 24 with a googly before dismissing the in-form Ferreira for four with a leg-break. The spell probably killed the chase as RR were already in trouble, being 78/3 in the powerplay. The hard-hitting RR opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took the Royals off to a flier, having smashed 36 runs from 16 balls.

But Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada pulled things back for Gujarat. Siraj dismissed Sooryavanshi with a short ball as he was caught at fine leg. Rabada then continued the good work by removing stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal at covers and later dismissing Shimron Hetmyer at mid-on, putting the Rajasthan Royals under pressure before Rashid Khan took over. While Rashid struck twice in the seventh over, he returned to haunt the GT batters again. He made mess of Dubey's stumps in the 12th over before plumbing Jadeja in the 14th.

Holder also carried his impressive run, as he nicked behind Jofra Archer in the 15th over before taking the final two wickets of Dasun Shanaka and Tushar Deshpande to win the game by 77 runs. Led by skipper Shubman Gill’s blazing 84 and a classy 55 from Sai Sudharsan, Gujarat Titans posted an imposing 229/4 against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League clash on Saturday. Gill hammered nine fours and three sixes during his 44-ball knock, while Sudharsan struck six boundaries and two maximums in his 36-ball innings.

The opening pair added a strong 118-run partnership after the Gujarat Titans were asked to bat first. Later, Washington Sundar scored a quick unbeaten 37 runs from 20 balls to help the team finish well.

For the Rajasthan Royals, fast bowler Brijesh Sharma was the best performer with 2 wickets for 47 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja and Yash Raj Punja picked up one wicket each.
