Daily News: IND vs AUS Day 2 Highlights: Nitish Reddy Century, Rohit Sharma to retire? 

Day 3 of the 4th test match was owned by Indian batters Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. After early wickets of Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja early in the morning, both batters batted beautifully the whole day. Rishabh Pant scored 28 runs and gave his wicket to the Australian team. By playing a shot behind the stumps, he made an easy catch for the third-man fielder. His dismissal attracts heavy criticism from the legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Sanjay Manjrekar and more. While Ravindra Jadeja scored 17 runs after 51 balls.

After two dismissals, Sundar and Reddy contributed to a partnership of 157 runs and batted for most of the day. The partnership was crucial for India, as no batter followed them, and the team trailed by over 250 runs. Sundar scored 50 runs out of 162 balls, hitting only one boundary, which shows his resilience.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s Heroic Innings

The name Nitish Reddy, which was unheard of by most of the cricket fraternity a month ago, is now well-known to cricket fans around the world. A young 21-year-old boy from Andhra Pradesh has etched his name on the honours board of MCG. He is now India's top run-getter for India in this Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. In his innings, Reddy School had 105* runs in 176 balls, hitting 10 boundaries and one six. Nitish scored 284 runs in 6 in the series and became the highest scorer from the Indian sides.

He got praise from the legends like Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and more.

By the end of the day, India was at 358 for nine, trailing by 116 runs with Nitish Reddy and Mohammed Siraj on the crease.

Rohit Sharma Retirement

The report suggests that after this test match, India chief selector Ajit Agarkar will have a discussion with Rohit Sharma about his test cricket future. The report even suggests that if India doesn't qualify for the WTC final, the Sydney test could be Rohit’s last test.
