CT 2025 Points Table: South Africa Dominate England to Secure Top Spot in Group B
South Africa outclassed England in their final Champions Trophy 2025 game, sealing their spot in the semi-finals with a crushing seven-wicket victory. England were bowled out for only 179, as Marco Jansen led the charge with three wickets. Heinrich Klaasen scored 64 runs and Rassie van der Dussen scored 72* runs slammed half-centuries each as South Africa chased it down in just 29.1 overs.
England captain Jos Buttler steps down, having lost seven ODIs in a row, and finishing bottom of Group B. Afghanistan were also knocked out, with Australia finishing second in the group.
South Africa has moved past Australia to take the top spot in Group B of the 2025 Champions Trophy points table. Led by Temba Bavuma, they have won two out of their three group-stage matches. Their game against Australia was washed out, so they have a total of five points.
Australia came second with four points from three matches. Afghanistan ended up in third place because England couldn’t beat South Africa by a big enough margin. England finished last, losing all three of their group-stage games.
South Africa and Australia have officially qualified for the semifinals from Group B. On the other side, India and New Zealand have qualified from Group A.
Can India top Group A in the 2025 Champions Trophy?
The action will shift to Dubai on March 2 as former champions India gear up to take on the undefeated New Zealand team. India are second in the 2025 Champions Trophy points table for Group A. A win against the Blackcaps will help India move to the top of the table and set up a semifinal clash with Australia on March 4.
If New Zealand wins against India or the match gets washed out, they will top the standings. So, New Zealand will face Australia on March 5, while India will play against South Africa on March 4 in Dubai.
