Coach Sees McSweeney Ready for Test Challenge

Ryan Harris, the coach of South Australia and a former Test bowler, is confident that Nathan McSweeney can transition smoothly into international cricket. With a series of impressive performances in the Sheffield Shield, McSweeney's name has emerged in conversations regarding Australia's Test squad for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India.

Although he has not played as an opening batter in his six-year first-class career, McSweeney has made a strong impact as South Australia's permanent number three. Since taking on this role, he has often faced new balls, coming to the crease during challenging situations. In the last 14 innings, he has batted with less than 10 runs on the board eight times, scoring nearly 600 runs at an average of 45.92, including two centuries and four fifties. His recent scores of 55, 127 not out, 37, and 72 highlight his status as one of the leading top-order batsmen in the country. Additionally, he has been appointed captain of the Australia A team for the upcoming two-match series against India A.
