Sri Lanka West Indies Tour from June 3 May Affect IPL 2026 Playoffs Availability

The Sri Lanka Cricket is planning a tour to West Indies right after IPL 2026, which can create a problem for some IPL teams. The team will play three T20 matches and three ODI matches starting from June 3.

They will have a warm-up match followed by two-match Test series starting from June 18. The tour will start quite soon after the IPL playoff matches, and hence some of the players might leave early.

It can become a challenge for IPL teams such as Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals if they make it to the playoff stage because their final IPL matches will end after May 24, and the Sri Lankan players may not be available during the time period.

The players such as Pathum Nissanka, Dasun Shanaka, and Ehsan Malinga are taking part in the IPL as well as representing Sri Lanka. These players will have to make an early exit from IPL and join their national team.

Nissanka represents DC. Kamindu Mendis and Ehsan Malinga represent SRH. Nuwan Thushara represents RCB. Matheesha Pathirana is playing for KKR but hasn't played a match so far.

Both teams SRH and RR will make it to the playoffs while DC will be working hard to earn a spot for itself. Overall, in any case, the players will always opt for their national team over IPL, so the latter will have to manage its team accordingly.
