CSK Injury Blow: Ramakrishna Ghosh Ruled Out of IPL 2026 After Debut Match

Chennai Super Kings are still facing injury issues, as Ramakrishna Ghosh has now been ruled out of the rest of Indian Premier League 2026. The Maharashtra all-rounder, who was bought by the five-time champions in the IPL 2025 mega auction, made his IPL debut in the game against Mumbai Indians on Saturday, but unfortunately has been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament after sustaining a fracture during the game.
The all-rounder was forced to walk off the field amid the CSK vs MI game at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Saturday, sparking concerns about his fitness. Ramakrishna Ghosh has reportedly suffered a fracture to his right foot and, therefore will miss the remainder of IPL 2026.
Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh ruled out
The five-time champions Chennai Super Kings are already dealing with several injuries, with players like Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed ruled out of the tournament. Ghosh, who warmed the bench throughout IPL 2025, took part in his first game of the league against MI on Saturday, and even picked up a wicket apart from taking a brilliant catch.
“Ramakrishna Ghosh sustained a fracture to his right foot during the CSK v MI match at Chepauk. He will take no further part in IPL 2026,” CSK said in a statement issued on social media platforms.
Ghosh impressed on his IPL debut, giving away just 24 runs in 3 overs and taking one wicket. He made an immediate impact by dismissing Suryakumar Yadav as his first IPL wicket. The Indian T20I captain was caught out at the sweeper cover as he attempted a big hit but failed to get the distance. The Maharashtra all-rounder made his List A and T20 debut in 2023 and 2022 respectively and has grown leaps and bounds over the years.
He has taken 21 wickets in 11 List A matches, but his T20 record is modest, with just 2 wickets in 9 games. However, Ghosh proved that he is a force to be reckoned with in terms of batting, having scored 246 runs from 11 List A matches, including a 73-run knock against Punjab in his first game of VHT 2025/26. Ghosh has fared slightly better in red-ball cricket when compared to his prowess in the limited-overs formats but is a budding cricketer who is surely talented. Born on August 28, 1997, the 28-year-old is a right-handed fast bowling all-rounder. He is a regular for Maharashtra in all formats of the game in the recent past.
