Australia Announce ODI and T20I Squads for India Series; Marsh to Captain, Green Returns

Australia have announced their 15-player squad for the upcoming ODI series against India. The much-awaited series, which marks the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, will begin on October 19. Mitchell Marsh will lead the Australian team as captain, with regular skipper Pat Cummins still recovering from a lower back injury.
There are two big changes in the team. Marnus Labuschagne, who played a hard-working role in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup win, has been dropped from the side because his batting hasn’t been good lately. Also, Glenn Maxwell is still recovering from a wrist fracture, so he won’t be part of the ODI or T20I squads. He is expected to return when the Big Bash League begins.
Cameron Green Returns to ODI Squad; Ellis and Inglis Back for T20Is
Australia have also announced the return of Cameron Green to the ODI setup after his injury break. However, the fast bowling all-rounder has not been named in the T20I side as he focusses on his preparation for the Ashes, which is set to be held immediately after the white-ball series against India. The 26-year-old bowled for the first time in a match since back surgery last year, picking up one wicket in his four-over spell in Western Australia’s Sheffield Shield game. Australia have also named their T20I squad for the first two matches of the five-game series.
Fast bowler Nathan Ellis is back in the team after the birth of his child, while Josh Inglis returns as well, having missed the New Zealand tour because of a calf injury. Inglis's return meant that dynamic batter Josh Phillippe was left out of the team, alongside Alex Carey.
