Australia and India will face off in the opening Test of 2025, set to be held as a Pink Test at the SCG

India's chances of reaching the World Test Championship final took a big blow after they lost to Australia on December 30. Australia won by 184 runs in the Melbourne Test and now leads the five-match series with a 2-1 score. All people are excited for the Sydney Test happening on January 3.

The fifth and final match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy is coming up, and it's occurring at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). What's spectacular about this match is that it's a Pink Test. If you're not sure what that means. Since 2009, the SCG has been the location for the Pink Test. Let's explore why that's the case and what a Pink Test really means.

What does a Pink Test refer to?

The Pink Test started in 2009 during a tour of Australia by South Africa. It's the name for the first red ball match every year where the entire stadium shows up in pink colors. This is to back the McGrath Foundation, an effort that wants to let people know more about breast cancer. The subject means a lot to Glenn McGrath, a major name in Australian cricket, because of his personal loss.

His wife, Jane passed due to breast cancer in 2008 and to remember her, he set up the McGrath Foundation. The purpose is to tell people about breast cancer and help those who are fighting it or have beaten it by raising funds.

At the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), Australia has been performing well in cricket, especially since the Pink Test began. The location looks all dressed in pink not simply the groups and the stands but the Aussie players also. They wear bright pink highlighted shirts, plus their caps and the numbers and names on their back are in pink.

They only lost one match in 2011 when England took them in the final game of the Ashes series in Pink Test.
