Zaheer Khan to Lead Special Fast-Bowling Camp at BCCI Centre of Excellence

The BCCI has named former star bowler Zaheer Khan to be in-charge of providing special fast bowling training at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. As reported by The Times Of India, Zaheer will conduct special fast bowling camps during the first week of March. Zaheer replaces Troy Cooley (Australia) who ended his four-year contract as The BCCI's Fast Bowling Coach in December 2025.
The BCCI invited applications for the position on February 9, during the first week of T20 World Cup 2026. Troy Cooley has since been named as the England Development Fast Bowling Coach where he will perform the same functions as he did in his role with the BCCI.
“A batch of fast bowlers has been invited from state associations for a special fast-bowling camp from Feb 28- March 2 at CoE in Bengaluru under the tutelage of Zaheer. Head of cricket at CoE VVS Laxman has taken keen interest in this initiative,” a BCCI source told TOI.
“Zaheer is very keen on taking up coaching roles. He was involved with Lucknow Super Giants and believes he can help the next generation of cricketers. It’s a good sign that a fast bowler of his stature has shown interest in BCCI programmes. However, it needs to be seen if he wants to take up a full-time job at CoE as it will require him to commit a lot of time away from his family,” the source added.
