WPL 2026 Mega Auction Set for Nov 26-27 in New Delhi

WPL 2026 Mega Auction Set for Nov 26-27 in New Delhi

[ Poll: 4wrboOwd ]

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction is expected to be held in New Delhi between November 26 and 27. Reports say that all five teams – Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals, Mumbai Indians, and UP Warriorz, have been informally told about the venue. Earlier, the BCCI had suggested the auction might happen on November 29 or 30, but the board hasn’t officially confirmed the date yet.

WPL 2026 Auction Likely in New Delhi on Nov 26-27

According to Cricbuzz, each team can keep up to five players before the WPL 2026 auction. Even though it’s a mega auction, it will be finished in just one day. Teams need to send their list of retained players by November 5. The team’s first retention will cost the franchise Rs 3.5 crore while the fifth and final retention will cost Rs 50 lakh.

There are five Right to Match (RTM) cards available for the teams but that will be based on the number of retentions that a team makes. The more the number of retentions, the lesser RTM options the teams will have. Each team can keep up to three experienced Indian players and a maximum of two foreign stars. If a team wants to retain a new, uncapped player, the set price is ₹50 lakh. Teams can retain no more than two uncapped players.

While the amount paid to an individual player may differ from guideline price, the total amount based on the number of players retained will be used for salary cap calculation,” BCCI said.

Earlier, it was reported that teams like RCB, MI, and DC didn’t support the idea of a mega auction. They feel that breaking up teams they’ve spent three years building, especially when the WPL is still growing, could do more harm than good. On the other hand, Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz are excited to refresh their squads and are in favor of a mega auction.
