Women’s World Cup 2025: Bengaluru Matches in Trouble Due to Pending Govt Approval

Women’s World Cup 2025: Bengaluru Matches in Trouble Due to Pending Govt Approval

[ Poll: BZKQmmyx ]

The 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup will be held in India from September 30 to November 2. The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru was given four matches, including the final on November 2 if Pakistan do not make it to the title clash. However, new reports suggest that these World Cup matches might be shifted out of Bengaluru.

Bengaluru World Cup Matches in Doubt Amid Pending Government Approval

A report by Cricbuzz on Thursday said there is uncertainty over the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 matches in Bengaluru, as the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has not yet received permission from the state government to host the 50-over games.

“The uncertainty is in view of the tragic stampede in June when 11 fans died as Royal Challengers Bengaluru were celebrating their IPL success. The matter has since gone to the courts, and the state government has not yet given permission for the matches. The KSCA has shifted the Maharaja Cup T20 tournament from the city to Mysuru and is awaiting a nod on the Women’s World Cup," the report said.

“We’ve written to the State Government and are awaiting a response. It’s not as if they’ve denied permission. If that were the policy, they wouldn’t have allowed the Maharaja Cup in Mysuru. So, we’re waiting. There is some more time for this, and we’re going step by step," a KSCA official was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Bengaluru to Host Key Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Matches, Including Opener and Possible Final

As per the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 schedule, Bengaluru will host the opening match between India and Sri Lanka on September 30. The city will also see England face South Africa on October 4, and India take on Bangladesh in the final league match on October 26.

The second semifinal is set for October 30. If Pakistan do not make it to the final, Bengaluru will host the championship match on November 2. But if Pakistan qualify, the final will be held at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium. ACA’s Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, Holkar Stadium in Indore, ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam and R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo are the other four venues for the ODI World Cup, which features eight teams India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia.
