West Indies Cricket Announces 2025-26 Retainer Contracts for Men and Women

Kraigg BrathwaiteCricket West Indies (CWI) has updated its retainer contracts for 2025-26. In the men’s team, Kraigg Brathwaite, Joshua Da Silva and Kavem Hodge are out, while Justin Greaves, Sherfane Rutherford and Jomel Warrican join the 15-player list. For the women’s team, Jannillea Glasgow and Shawnisha Hector are added, but Shamilia Connell, Cherry Ann Fraser, Chedean Nation and Rashada Williams are not included.

The main players stay the same. In the men’s team, Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Gudakesh Motie and Jayden Seales have kept their contracts, while the women’s team still includes Hayley Matthews, Stafanie Taylor, Deandra Dottin and Shemaine Campbelle. The contracts start on October 1, 2025. Miles Bascombe, CWI’s director of cricket, said the contracts were given based on “current performance and future potential,” and fit with the plan to prepare West Indies cricket for big global tournaments.

Starter contracts went to Jewel Andrew, Jediah Blades, Johann Layne, Jahzara Claxton and Realeanna Grimmond, and 15 men and 14 women got academy contracts. West Indies cricket is trying to bounce back after poor results. The women’s team missed qualifying for the ODI World Cup but beat South Africa in a T20I series. The men’s team lost at home to Australia in Tests, then lost 2-1 to Nepal in T20Is, though they did win an ODI series against Pakistan.
