Wasim Akram Advocates India-Pakistan Cricket Collaboration for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Wasim Akram Advocates India-Pakistan Cricket Collaboration for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has reached out to the BCCI and the Indian government regarding the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Pakistan next February. Akram highlighted the immense popularity of players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma among Pakistani fans, promising that Indian cricketers will receive exceptional hospitality during their visit.

"The atmosphere seems positive from both the BCCI and the Indian government. I understand their matches will be held in Lahore, with players returning the same night after each game. I'm fine with this arrangement as long as it suits India," Akram stated on ESPNcricinfo.

The tournament, returning after an eight-year hiatus, is scheduled from February 19 to March 9. India has not competed in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup, and the BCCI is awaiting confirmation from the Indian government regarding their participation.

If the Indian authorities decline, the tournament may adopt a Hybrid Model, allowing India to play all matches at a neutral venue. The ICC may also consider relocating the entire event outside Pakistan.
