Vidarbha Clinches Third Ranji Trophy Title, Edges Kerala on First Innings Lead
Vidarbha won the 2025 Ranji Trophy title by defeating Kerala based on a first-innings lead in the final held at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. On the final day, they began their second innings at 249 for 4. They batted for 54 more overs and finished at 375 for 9.
With a draw, umpires officially called off play around the lunch session of the fifth afternoon, allowing Vidarbha to bag its third Ranji Trophy title in the past eight years.

Vidarbha dashed Kerala’s hopes of winning the Ranji Trophy by clinching the 2025 final in Nagpur. After gaining a 37-run lead in the first innings, Vidarbha put up a solid fight in their second innings, batting for 143.5 overs and scoring 375/9. With no chance of a result, both captains agreed to end the match in a draw, giving Vidarbha the title.
Earlier in the match, Vidarbha batted first and mounted 379 in 123 overs. Danish Malewar scored 153 of those runs by batting out 285 deliveries to top-score in the innings. Karun Nair also cracked a cautious 86 after his team slipped to 24-3 at one stage of the opening day’s morning session.
Vidarbha's bowlers put up a strong performance, with Darshan Nalkande, Harsh Dubey, and Parth Rekhade each taking three wickets. Their efforts helped bowl out Kerala for 342, giving Vidarbha a slim 37-run lead.
Vidarbha clinched their third Ranji Trophy title, their first since the 2018-19 season. Meanwhile, it was a historic moment for Kerala, as they reached the Ranji Trophy final for the first time ever.
