India started their home season in style with a massive win over West Indies, defeating them by an innings and 140 runs in the first Test on Saturday, October 4, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This big victory also helped India move up in the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table. The ongoing two-match Test series is part of the WTC cycle.
Under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, India had a strong England tour, drawing the five-match Test series. This put them third on the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table with 28 points and 46.67 PCT. Australia leads the table with 36 points and 100 PCT winning all three of their WTC Tests. Sri Lanka is second with 16 points and 66.67 PCT from two games winning one. Sitting fourth in the standings, England has accumulated 26 points with a 43.33% success rate from their five games, including two victories, two defeats, and one draw against India. Bangladesh is fifth with four points and 16.67 PCT having drawn one of their two games so far.
After their big win over West Indies in Ahmedabad, India stayed third on the updated ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 points table now with 40 points and 55.56 PCT. Australia and Sri Lanka remain the top two teams.
West Indies, on the other hand, have lost all four of their matches so far three against Australia and one against India and have yet to earn any points. Meanwhile, New Zealand, Pakistan, and South Africa have not played any games in this WTC cycle yet.

India responded strongly, declaring at 448/5, led by centuries from KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja and Dhruv Jurel, giving them a huge lead of 286 runs.
The West Indies’ second innings was no better, as they were bowled out for just 146 runs in 45.1 overs. Jadeja spun through the middle order taking 4/54, while Siraj added 3/31 and Kuldeep took two more wickets, finishing with four in the match. No West Indies batter managed to score more than 30 showing India’s relentless bowling attack. Riding on this momentum, India will look to seal the series with another strong performance in Delhi.
