Salman Ali Agha warned for violating ICC Code of Conduct

Salman Ali Agha warned for violating ICC Code of ConductPakistan batter Salman Ali Agha has been reprimanded for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during Pakistan’s recently concluded Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet. Penalties for Level 1 breaches range from an official reprimand to 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, along with one or two demerit points.

Salman penalised for damaging equipment

Salman was found to have violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which refers to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment, or fixtures and fittings during an international match.”

In addition to the official reprimand, Salman has been handed one demerit point on his disciplinary record. This is his second offence within 24 months, having previously breached the same Article during an ODI against Bangladesh earlier this year.

Incident occurred after dismissal in Sylhet Test

The recent incident occurred when Salman was dismissed after stitching together a resisting partnership with Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan’s chances dwindled. After his dismissal, the batter struck the advertising cushion with his bat on his way back to the pavilion.

Salman accepted the sanction proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, eliminating the need for an official hearing. The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Richard Kettleborough and Allahuddien Palekar, along with third umpire Kumar Dharmasena and fourth umpire Masudur Rahman Mukul.
