A couple of days ago, during the WPL 2026 retention, Gujarat Giants made a surprising move. They decided not to retain any of their Indian players and kept only two Australians, Ashleigh Gardner for ₹3.5 crore and Beth Mooney for ₹2.5 crore. It seems GG wants to start fresh and build their team from scratch at the WPL 2026 auction, which will be held in Delhi on November 27.
Top 3 Bowlers GG Must Target in WPL 2026 Auction
Renuka Thakur
In a surprising move, the team decided to let go of Priya Mishra and Deandra Dottin. That said, Gujarat Giants can still use their RTM card to try and get them back during the WPL 2026 auction. As for new targets, they are likely keeping an eye on someone like Renuka Singh, the Indian pacer released by RCB. The 29-year-old has picked up 13 wickets so far and can swing the ball both ways, making her a real threat.
Sophie Devine
GG have a purse of 9 cr left, and in that they would like to accommodate New Zealand all-rounder Devine as well. Off late she has been in brilliant bowling form, and has 119 T20I wickets to her name. She could be an excellent addition to the team.
Kranti Gaud
India’s young fast bowler Gaud was released by UPW in the WPL 2026 retentions. Still, Gujarat might want to consider her. She has shown she can be dangerous, and though she gave away some runs in the World Cup, she could be a useful player for the team.
