This Is My Ground: Rahul’s Bold Statement After Match-Winning Knock
After hitting the winning run against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Delhi Capitals batter KL Rahul dug his bat into the ground like a sword, marked his territory, pointed to his badge and said "Ye mera ground hai (This is my ground)." The star batter played a match-winning knock, scoring an unbeaten 93 off just 53 balls to help Delhi Capitals chase down the target and win by 6 wickets against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This innings also added to Rahul’s strong record against RCB; he’s now scored 741 runs in just 16 innings against them, including one century and four half-centuries.
At the post-match presentation, where he was named Player of the Match, Rahul said the pitch was a bit tricky that day. He mentioned that keeping wickets while DC was bowling helped him understand how the pitch was behaving. Rahul added that he just wanted to start well and figure things out as the game went on.
"It was a slightly tricky wicket but being behind the stumps for 20 overs helped me to know how the wicket played. The ball sat in the wicket a little bit but it was consistent, not two paced. I wanted to get a good start, be aggressive initially and assess it from there and that's what I did," said Rahul.

Rahul said he had a clear idea of the areas he wanted to target during the chase. He also admitted he was a bit lucky to get an early chance when Rajat Patidar dropped him. Being a local boy from Bengaluru, Rahul added that he knows the Chinnaswamy Stadium better than most and always enjoys playing there.
"It depends on the ground dimensions and all that stuff. But I knew what my pockets were to if I was going big first. I knew where to target and as a keeper I followed where the batters found fielders and where they hit sixes. Got lucky with the dropped catch and yeah this is my home ground, I know this better than anyone else, always enjoy playing here," said Rahul.
Rahul celebrated in style after the win, showing everyone that the ground was truly his.
