The Dark Side of Unregulated T20 Leagues: Health, Safety and Financial Risks

Can too many T20s be bad for health? Cricket is like a religion in India and every type of the game is loved, but T20 leagues with big stars often run on their own without any control from cricket boards or the ICC.

After the Pahalgam attack, life in Kashmir was slowly getting back to normal, and people were hopeful. The Indian Heaven Premier League (IHPL) came at that time and brought big names like Chris Gayle, Jesse Ryder, Shaun Marsh and Praveen Kumar, which made everyone very excited.

At first the tournament felt like a welcome break and a sign of better days, but things did not always go as planned and problems started to show up. What began as a joyful cricket festival turned into a worrying situation for some, reminding everyone that big events can bring both hope and trouble.

Midway through the tournament, the organizers suddenly disappeared, leaving behind unpaid hotel bills. Players, umpires, and technical staff were left without their payments. To make things worse, some players were even held hostage because of the unpaid dues. Later, the Kashmir government stepped in and made sure everyone could leave the hotels safely.

Legends League Faces Pressure from Competing T20 Leagues

This situation puts a lot of pressure on other leagues like T20 Legends, Masters, or the World Championship of Legends. BCCI and ICC now need to focus on making sure the Legends League is well-organized, safe and reliable, so players, staff, and fans can trust that everything will run smoothly.

BCCI and ICC should ensure that the organizers are properly checked for their ability to run the league, that players are paid on time, and that insurance is in place for players and officials in case of any problems. All hotel bills should be paid before the tournament starts and strict penalties must be enforced if organizers or teams fail to meet these obligations.
