Tamil Nadu Premier League 2025: Points Table, Top Run-Scorers & Wicket-Takers After TGC vs CSG
Chepauk Super Gillies thump Trichy Grand Cholas by a slender 4 runs in the last-ball thriller and extend their winning streak to six matches in the ongoing TNPL. Rohit Suthar held his nerve in the last over and sealed the deal for his side. With this win, Chepauk Super Gillies secured a top-two finish on the points table, while Trichy Grand Cholas’ hopes of qualifying for the playoffs came to an end. Earlier, after being invited to bat first, Chepauk Super Gillies suffered an early setback as K Aashiq fell cheaply for just 5 runs. RS Mokit Hariharan looked promising but couldn't capitalise on his start and departed for 25, leaving the Super Gillies at 39/2 inside the powerplay.
Baba Aparajith (63) and Vijay Shankar (59) then steadied the innings, stitching together a brisk 100+ run stand for the third wicket. Both batters brought up their respective fifties and had the scoreboard ticking at a healthy rate. However, their dismissals in the death overs derailed Chepauk’s momentum, and the side eventually fell 2 runs short of crossing the 180-run mark a total that once seemed well within reach. V Athisayaraj Davidson, M Ganesh Moorthi, P Saravana Kumar, K Easwaran, and R Rajkumar bagged one wicket each for Trichy Grand Cholas.

In reply, Trichy Grand Cholas lost Waseem Ahmed for just 10 runs, with M Silambarasan drawing the first blood for Chepauk Super Gillies. Jayaraman Suresh Kumar and Jagatheesan Kousik looked good and kept ticking the scoreboard at a decent pace. They added over 80 runs for the second wicket, with Kousik falling just 5 short of his fifty. Suresh Kumar reached his fifty but failed to bat till the end and departed for 63 runs, with Prem Kumar sending both set batters back to the hut in quick succession.
Grand Cholas lost a few wickets in quick succession at the tail end of the innings, and the match went down to the wire. Sanjay Yadav played a crucial cameo, scoring 29 runs off 19 balls, but his attempt to go big in the final over saw him hole out in the deep. With his dismissal, the Grand Cholas were left needing 6 runs off the final 2 deliveries. The debutant, Rohit Suthar, held his nerve and successfully defended the total in the final over. J Prem Kumar shone with the ball for Super Gillies, claiming three wickets, while Vijay Shankar, M Silambarasan, and Rohit Suthar celebrated a solitary wicket.
