SA20 2025-26: Kane Williamson Rejoins Durban’s Super Giants as Taijul Islam’s Replacement Kane Williamson will rejoin the Durban’s Super Giants for the SA20 2025-26 season in South Africa. The New Zealand star, who played for the team earlier this year, has been brought back as a replacement for Bangladesh all-rounder Taijul Islam.

The Durban’s Super Giants bought Bangladesh spinner Taijul Islam for R500,000 (about US$28,858 or ₹24 lakh) at the SA20 2025-26 auction in September. However, he will miss the whole upcoming season. Taijul Islam has been replaced by New Zealand star batter Kane Williamson, who also played for the Durban’s Super Giants in the last season. In SA20 2025, Williamson scored 233 runs in seven innings from eight matches, with an average of 46.60 and a strike rate of around 120.

Kane Williamson, known as the Hurricane, is a New Zealand cricketer who has achieved numerous records and accolades in his career.

It is worth noting that Kane Williamson recently announced his retirement from T20 internationals earlier this month. He now has a casual contract with New Zealand Cricket (NZC), which allows him the freedom to play in overseas T20 leagues.

Williamson will join other overseas stars like Noor Ahmad, West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, England’s hard-hitting batter Jos Buttler and former Namibia player David Wiese in the Durban’s Super Giants squad for SA20 2025-26. The tournament will begin on December 26 this year, starting early to prepare for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The Durban’s Super Giants will face defending champions MI Cape Town in the opening match in Cape Town.
