RCA Approaches BCCI After Rajasthan Royals Decide to Shift IPL 2026 Home Base

The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) has written to BCCI after Rajasthan Royals (RR) decided to move their IPL 2026 home ground from Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. RR said the stadium did not follow the new safety and evacuation rules.

RCA said they understand that safety matters, but any safety check on a government stadium should be done in the right way and with the proper authorities. RCA also said they were not told about any private inspection done by RR.

Rajasthan Royals Founded: 2008

Rajasthan Royals is a cricket franchise that debuted in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008.

RCA told BCCI that the Jaipur stadium is strong, safe, and ready for matches. They also said the stadium has hosted IPL games for almost 20 years, and many other big matches, without any serious safety problems. RCA also said the stadium hosted the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy matches well. In two Mumbai games, where Rohit Sharma played, around 20,000 fans came to the stadium, and there were no safety issues.

RCA said the recent matches show the stadium is ready for big cricket events again. At the moment, RCA is suspended, and a Rajasthan government ad hoc committee is managing the stadium work. RCA said they want to work with BCCI, RR, and everyone involved to help cricket move forward.

Cricbuzz reported that RCA sent the letter a few days after news came out that RR had talked to the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA). MCA has confirmed that RR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru want to play some home games in Pune.

There have been some problems between BCCI, RR, and the ad hoc committee. Last year, the committee head Jaideep Bihani accused RR of match fixing after a close loss to Lucknow Super Giants. RCA ended the letter by saying the stadium is fully ready to host big cricket matches, and recent games prove it.
