In another important decision, the MCA will also name three stadium gates after former India cricketers. Gate No. 3 will be named after Dilip Sardesai, Gate No. 6 after Eknath Solkar, and Gate No. 5 after Diana Edulji.
The MCA said these players played a big role in building Mumbai’s strong cricket history. They also made important contributions to Indian cricket. The aim is to honour their achievements and inspire young cricketers and fans who visit the stadium.
MCA president Ajinkya Naik said Mumbai cricket stands on the strong foundation built by its legends. He said it is important to respect and honour those who made the city and the country proud.
He added that naming the stand after Ravi Shastri is a tribute to his work as a player, captain and coach. Naming the gates after Sardesai, Solkar and Edulji will remind every fan about the great players who helped shape Mumbai’s cricket history.
