Pataudi Trophy Renamed as Sachin-Anderson Trophy for India vs England 2025 Test Series to Honour Cricket Legends

Pataudi Trophy Renamed as Sachin-Anderson Trophy for India vs England 2025 Test Series to Honour Cricket LegendsJust two weeks before India and England start their five-Test series, the trophy they play for has got a new name. The Pataudi Trophy is now called the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, says BBC Sport. The first match will be at Leeds on June 20. Sachin Tendulkar, one of the best batsmen ever, still holds the record for the most runs in Test cricket. He scored 15,921 runs in 200 Tests from 1989 to 2013.

James Anderson is England’s top wicket-taker ever and the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket, with an amazing 704 wickets to his name.

After retiring from international cricket last year, James Anderson has continued working with England as a bowling coach. He also returned to play county cricket for Lancashire, signing a new one-year deal to stay at Old Trafford.

The Legacy of Tendulkar and Anderson: A Rivalry Immortalized

Tendulkar and Anderson went head-to-head in 14 Test matches. Anderson was the bowler who got Tendulkar out the most, dismissing him nine times. Naming the trophy after both players is similar to how the Crowe-Thorpe Trophy was created, honoring former batsmen Martin Crowe from New Zealand and Graham Thorpe from England.

Before, the Test series between England and India in the UK was played for the Pataudi Trophy, named after the Pataudi family. The Nawab of Pataudi, Iftikhar Ali Khan, played for both England and India during the 1930s and 40s. His son, Mansoor Ali Khan, played for India in the 1960s and 70s and is remembered as one of India’s greatest captains.
