Pakistan batter reprimanded for Level 1 Code of Conduct breach
Pakistan batter Sidra Amin has been penalised for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct in the first ODI against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Sunday.
Article 2.2 of ICC Code of Conduct
The incident occurred during the 24th over of the chase in the first ODI, when the Pakistan player slammed her bat on the ground after being dismissed by Sune Luus.
In doing so, she violated Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which deals with “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”
Sidra has been handed one demerit point, which is the second on her disciplinary record in 24 months. She received the first in an ICC Women's World Cup game between Pakistan and India for a similar violation.
No formal hearing
No formal hearing was arranged as Sidra accepted the charges levelled by on-field umpires Kerrin Klaaste and Nimali Perera, third umpire Lauren Agenbag, and fourth umpire Stacy Lackay. The sanction was proposed by match referee Shandrè Fritz.
The penalty only added to what has been a heartbreaking series for Pakistan. Having lost the first rain-truncated ODI, they put up a better performance in Wednesday's game, reaching within touching distance of victory against South Africa. Chasing a massive 361-run target, powered by Annerie Dercksen’s 90 off 68 balls, Pakistan fell short by just 16 runs. With the defeat, the lost the three-match ODI series by 2-0, with one match to spare.
