Sahibzada Farhan, Usman Tariq make gains in ICC T20I rankings
Pakistan opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has been rewarded for his prolific run in the T20 World Cup, moving to third in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings after jumping two places.
Farhan rises in rankings
The right-handed batter is currently the leading run-scorer in the T20 World Cup, having scored 283 runs in six games at a staggering 70.75 average while striking at 158. Farhan, who is also among only four players to have scored a century this World Cup, is closely trailing England’s Phil Salt and India’s Abhishek Sharma in second and first places, respectively.
Besides him, Pakistan’s mystery spinner Usman Tariq has seen a dramatic surge, rising 59 places to 55th. Tariq, who had quite a build-up to the tournament, highlighting his quirky action, is the tournament’s joint third-highest, having taken 10 wickets in five games.
Pakistan’s underpar World Cup
The two players are exceptions in what has otherwise been a gloomy tournament for Pakistan. None of the batters has shown any impact, and that was reflected in the updated T20I batters rankings. Opening batter Saim Ayub has fallen to 34th place after losing three places. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and Babar Azam, meanwhile, have both also moved down one place, occupying the 38th and 36th places respectively.
Among bowlers, only Abrar Ahmed remains in the top ten, though he has also moved down two places from third to fifth. Besides him, Mohammad Nawaz, who entered the top ten at the 9th position in the previous update, is now at 12th place following his dismal outings in the World Cup.
Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza has replaced Saim Ayub at the top spot in ICC T20I all-rounders rankings.
