National Stadium Karachi Grand Opening Ceremony: When and Who’s Performing?

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced that Karachi’s National Stadium will be inaugurated on February 11, 2025, with a big celebration. The announcement was made on his official social media account, followed by musical performances by famous singers Shafqat Amanat Ali and Sahir Ali Bagga. Naqvi also shared a video showing the stadium’s transformation in his post on X (formerly Twitter).

The event will end in spectacular fashion with a fireworks and light show that will light up the sky. Karachi’s Water Corporation was put on high alert for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, earlier, by Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab.

Hashtnagaran Managing Director, Asadullah Khan has directed all officials to ensure that all water supply and drainage work at Karachi’s National Stadium is completed. Shahbaz Bashir will head the operations through a special team, and Shafqat Hussain and Waqar Ahmed will oversee the drainage services. Free water tankers, jetting machines, and emergency staff will be available to attend to any situation.

Mayor Wahab expressed pride in Karachi hosting the tournament and assured full support to the PCB. He added that the city is fully prepared to showcase its cricket facilities and hospitality for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Karachi will be hosting three matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the National Stadium and the first match of the tournament will be played on February 19, 2025, between Pakistan and New Zealand. Eight teams will participate in the tournament that will run from February 19 to March 9, 2025, in Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai. The teams are divided into two groups, Group A is Pakistan, India, New Zealand, and Bangladesh and Group B consists of Afghanistan, South Africa, England, and Australia.
