Mohammed Siraj Suffers Shoulder Injury, Raises Concern for Indian Team
The Indian cricket team is having a very tough time in the ongoing Test match against South Africa in Guwahati. They need 549 runs to tie the 2-match series, which is very difficult. On top of that, their fast bowler Mohammed Siraj got injured on Day 4, making things even harder for the team.
Siraj Injures Shoulder, Struggles with Bowling in Guwahati
The fast bowler got hurt in his shoulder during the last part of the day and had to leave the field. The team was worried about his fitness. The injury happened when Tristan Stubbs hit a ball from Nitish Kumar Reddy towards deep square leg, and Siraj dived to stop it.
He hurt his shoulder while trying, and he was in pain, so the team took him for medical help. At first, he couldn’t get up, but Devdutt Padikkal came in to field instead. Luckily, Siraj returned near the end of South Africa’s innings, though he dropped an easy catch from Stubbs.
The Guwahati pitch helped fast bowlers, and Marco Jansen used it very well to trouble the Indian batsmen. But the Indian fast bowlers, including Mohammed Siraj, did not have a good game. In South Africa’s first innings, Siraj struggled, giving 106 runs and taking only 2 wickets while South Africa scored 489 runs.
In the second innings, captain Rishabh Pant did not rely much on Siraj. He bowled only 5 overs and gave 19 runs. So far, in the two matches, Siraj has taken 6 wickets, with an average of 29.
