MCA Launches Women’s T20 Mumbai League with Three Teams

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has started a women’s version of the T20 Mumbai League, its city-based franchise tournament. The men’s tournament has been held for three seasons, with the most recent one taking place in June 2025 after the IPL. Mumbai man Rohit Sharma, the face of the league, unveiled the trophies for the upcoming men's and women's editions in Mumbai on Saturday.
The men’s league has eight teams, but the women’s tournament will begin with three teams. The matches are likely to be held at the same time, shortly after the IPL ends. The three women's teams will be operated by PRS Infraprojects LLP, Roadway Solution India Infra Ltd and World Star Sporting Private Limited.
MCA starts women’s T20 Mumbai League
"I'm very happy with how Mumbai cricket is shaping up - not just in the IPL team, but also with what the T20 Mumbai League has done for many young cricketers," Rohit said. "We saw so many cricketers who played in the T20 Mumbai now go on to play for IPL teams and the national team as well. It is a big platform. I'm happy that we are doing this again after a very successful last season. I was involved last season. I saw it was a very tough task. I have to give credit to each and every member of the MCA for pulling it through. This year, there are three women's teams as well, so it's getting bigger."
The MCA has not announced the schedule for either tournament yet. The full fixture list is expected after the complete IPL schedule is released. Right now, the IPL schedule is out only for the first 20 matches, to be played from March 28 to April 12.
Due to need to have elections in several states (also notably West Bengal; Tamil Nadu and Assam) where at least three of IPL teams have their home games, only some of the IPL schedule has been made available. The rest of the IPL schedule will not be released until the Election Commission of India can release voting dates to those locations. Mumbai's Sayali Satghare, who made her test debut during an Australian tour and won the WPL with RCB a month ago, said
"Mumbai has always been a city that lives and breathes cricket, and it means a lot to see a dedicated platform now being created for women as well. I would like to thank the Mumbai Cricket Association for taking this important step and investing in the future of women's cricket. The T20 Mumbai Women's League will give many young girls the opportunity to dream bigger, compete at a high level and believe that they too can represent Mumbai and India one day."
