New 1 Lakh+ Capacity Stadiums: Mumbai and Amravati
We all know India is home to the world's biggest cricket stadium that can house over 1.3 lakh spectators. But now, in the Indian Cricket circle, the chatter is going on for two big new cricket stadiums, one in Mumbai and one in Amravati. That will have a capacity of over one lakh. As per the reports, the proposal for the stadiums is at an advanced stage, and the government has already shown its interest in building and supporting the expedited process for these stadiums. Today, in the article, we will discuss all the details regarding the two new upcoming stadiums in Amravati and Mumbai.
World’s Biggest Stadium In Amravati
Andhra Pradesh has started a new journey of promoting sports in the state. Recently, the newly elected Chief Minister announced the plans for a large sports city and a cricket stadium in Amravati. But their plans are not limited to just building a cricket stadium in the sports complex. The government and the Andhra Cricket Association are planning to construct the world's largest cricket stadium, with a capacity of 132000 spectators, at Narendra Modi Stadium.
According to the sources, the Andhra government is very serious about building this new stadium and also wants to make it one of the best stadiums in the whole world. The task has already been given to the Andhra Cricket Association, with the state government backing them with full support. It is mentioned that the capacity will exceed the 1.32 lakh mark, with an estimated cost of approximately 800 crore rupees to build. Furthermore, the government has already allocated 60 acres of land in the upcoming 200-acre Sports City. The funding for this stadium is expected to be completed through BCCI financial assistance and other local fundraising methods.
The 1 Lakh Capacity Stadium in Mumbai
Mumbai has long been the centre of Indian cricket, witnessing big moments like the Cricket World Cup victory and the T20 World Cup roadshow. Mumbai has always been a prime location for cricket in India, which is also why all the major offices of the BCCI and its headquarters are in Mumbai. Moreover, Mumbai already have three international-class stadiums, including Wankhede Stadium, DY Patil Stadium, and Brabourne Stadium.
According to reports, the MCA, Mumbai Cricket Association, is planning to build a new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 in the city to rival Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The proposal is in the advanced stage, which can be understood by the fact that the Maharashtra government recently announced that they are ready to provide the land after the MCA presents a detailed plan. The stadium is expected to be built in the Thane district and aims for completion by 2030.
