Kuhnemann’s Bowling Action Under Review, Decision Expected Soon

Kuhnemann’s Bowling Action Under Review, Decision Expected SoonAustralian spinner Matthew Kuhnemann recently underwent a test at an ICC-approved center in Brisbane. He was reported for a suspect bowling action during the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and was suspended from bowling in international matches until further notice. Reports suggest he will learn the outcome of his suspension next week.

According to reports, Kuhnemann was asked to bowl at the same speed and with the same spin as he did in Galle. The testing session lasted for over an hour. He was seen wearing markers on his body while several high-speed cameras and a 3D motion analysis system captured his movements. ICC experts closely observed as he underwent the test in Brisbane.

Cricket Australia Backs Kuhnemann Amid Suspension

The test results are expected to come out next week. If Kuhnemann gets the all-clear, his suspension will be lifted, and he’ll be able to bowl in international matches again. Cricket Australia (CA) had previously said that in his eight-year career, Kuhnemann’s bowling action had never been questioned.

“The Australian team was informed of the match officials’ referral after the second Test against Sri Lanka in Galle and will support Matt through the process of clearing this matter,” CA said in a statement.

CA highlighted that since his debut in 2017, Kuhnemann has played 124 professional matches, and his action has never been called into question before. The board also assured that it would work closely with the ICC and independent experts, following ICC regulations.

“This is the first time in eight years of professional cricket that his action has been questioned,” CA added.
