KKR’s Sheldon Jackson Announces Sudden Retirement From White Ball Cricket

Sheldon Jackson, representing Saurashtra in domestic cricket, announced sudden retirement from white-ball cricket on Tuesday.

In the 80 T20 games in his white-ball career, including 9 IPL matches with Kolkata Knight Riders, Jackson scored 1812 runs. 

He played his last white-ball game against Punjab in the recent Vijay Hazare Trophy, scoring 13 runs off 10 balls. In the current season, Saurashtra has won three out of five matches in which he didn't contribute much.

In the last season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Jackson scored 133 off 136 in the finals against Maharashtra, which played a monumental role in the Saurashtra Victory. The team lifted the title after 15 years.

In his List A career, Sheldon scored 2792 runs in 84 innings with an average of 36.25. He played as a wicketkeeper for KKR in the IPL 2022.

Sheldon’s Multiple year Bond with KKR

Sheldon Jackson has a long-standing journey with Kolkata Knight Riders. The journey started in 2009 after he was first spotted byJoydeep Mukherjee in the trials. KKR first signed him in 2009, but he didn't play any games till 2017 when he made his IPL debut representing KKR. He returned again to KKR in 2021. KKR after releasing him in 2021, they acquired him again in the IPL 2022 auction for 60 Lakhs.

Despite being a formidable wicketkeeper with an impressive first-class record with an average of over 50, he didn't get enough chances. On the other hand, he didn't even perform in the matches he got to play. Just 61 runs in 8 innings with the highest score of 16 runs.
