Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins Ruled Out, Aussies in Crisis
More trouble mounts on the Australian Cricket Team. Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy due to injury setbacks, leaving Australia to make key squad changes. This leaves the Aussie side requiring 4 replacements in the final squad.
There are huge concerns over whether Cummins and Hazlewood are good to go for the event. Coach Andrew McDonald had hoped both might still make it, but that's no longer an option. Marcus Stoinis has also announced his retirement from ODIs.
Mitchell Marsh and Cameron Green Also Missed Due to Injury
Cricket Australia has confirmed that Marcus Stoinis has retired from the 50-over format with immediate effect. To add insult to injury, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood have also been ruled out for the ICC Champions Trophy. Earlier, Mitchell Marsh had already pulled out of the squad due to a back injury, and Cameron Green also has come out of the competition because of his injuries.
Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins Ruled Out of ICC Champions Trophy
Cummins missed the AUS vs SL Test series to be with his family for the birth of his second child. He’s still recovering from the ankle injury he picked up during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Cricket Australia had hoped Cummins and Hazlewood would be fit in time, but both have failed to recover fully.
Now, the Australian team has the task of finalizing 4 changes to the provisional squad. The deadline for submitting the final squad is on February 12th, so the management will be under a lot of pressure.
