
Jay Shah Meets IOC President Thomas Bach to Discuss Cricket’s Return to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach is a former Olympic athlete and a gold medal winner in fencing. During the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, bach won the gold medal in team foil fencing. After retiring from sports Thomas focused on sports administration. In 2013 Thomas Bach became the IOC president. As IOC chief he oversees the Olympic Games and promotes the values of the Olympic movement.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman Jay Shah met with the International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach. Jay Shah was recently elected as the ICC chairman and he attended some important meetings with key members of the Olympic Committee. On January 21, the ICC shared some photos of their meeting on social media.

During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Jay Shah also met the CEO of the Brisbane, Cindy Hook who was the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games Organising Committee (OCOG). These meetings come as cricket prepares to make a comeback to the Olympics after 128 years. In the 2028 Summer Olympics, cricket will feature. The 2028 Olympics will be held in Los Angeles(LA).
“We discussed a range of critical issues and continued to build relationships with our friends across the Olympic movement. We look forward to the next three and half years working in collaboration with the IOC and LA 2028,” ICC Chairman Jah Shah said
After the 128 years cricket sport returns to the Olympics. It was a historic moment in the Olympics. The cricket was last played in the Olympics at the 1900 Paris Games. With this cricket return, Shah expressed his excitement about the Cricket inclusion in the Los Angeles(LA) 2028 Olympics.
“This is an exciting time for the sport as we prepare for the LA28 Olympic Games and work to make cricket more inclusive and engaging for fans worldwide. Cricket holds immense potential globally, and I look forward to collaborating with the ICC team and Member countries to seize these opportunities and elevate the sport to new heights,” Shah said
According to the reports from the United States of America suggest that the cricket matches could take place on the East Coast of the United States. Recently the United States also hosted the T20I World Cup 2024 cricket matches on the East Coast of the US.
