Islamabad United replaces injured Max Bryant with Chris Green
Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, Islamabad United, has replaced Australia’s Max Bryant with Chris Green, a day out from the start of the league. Bryant, who was signed by the franchise for PKR 19.5 million at the auction, was ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
Green’s recent franchise experience
Green, signed by United for PKR 14 million, has previously played five games for Multan Sultans in the fourth edition of the PSL, where he took four wickets, including a 3/32 on his debut. He had an underwhelming Big Bash League (BBL) season with Sydney Thunder, claiming only four wickets at an average of 58 in ten matches.
Following his BBL team’s elimination, Green played for Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20, grabbing four wickets in as many games.
However, he can be expected to reap more rewards on Pakistan’s comparatively more spin-friendly wickets. Especially now that all games will be played at just two venues, Islamabad’s spin attack can benefit from his presence. Additionally, Green also brings the ability to chip in with some handy runs late in the innings.
Updated Islamabad United squad for PSL 11:
Shadab Khan (c), Salman Irshad, Andries Gous, Devon Conway, Faheem Ashraf, Mehran Mumtaz, Chris Green, Mark Chapman, Nisar Ahmed, Mir Hamza Sajjad, Sameen Gul, Sameer Minhas, Imad Wasim, Richard Gleeson, Haider Ali, Mohammad Hasnain, Dipendra Singh Airee, Mohammad Faiq and Mohammad Salman Mirza.
