IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal Confirms Start Date for IPL 2025, Says No Major Rule Changes
The Indian Premier League (IPL) will kick off on March 21. The Chairman of the Indian Premier League Arun Dhumal announced this officially on Monday. The mega auction was held in November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In this mega auction, a total of 182 players were sold for a record-breaking total amount of 639.15 crores. Arun Dhumal also confirmed that there won't be any major changes to the IPL rules.
Arun shared these amazing details about the IPL 2025 while talking to the press at the third Sansad Khel Mahakumbh in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. He also mentioned that even without new changes, the upcoming season will give more entertainment than the last season to the fans.

The full schedule will be announced in a few days, There won’t be any big changes in the rules. IPL is the top cricket league in the world, where players from around the globe participate. It’s run with a very competitive spirit, and this season will definitely be even better.”
Dhumal also said that the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala would host more domestic games and three IPL matches in 2025. The Dharamshala Stadium is the secondary home ground for the Punjab Kings team.
“Bilaspur has already hosted several national matches. In the future, tournaments like the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Vijay Hazare Trophy will likely include games here. We’re also working to bring more matches to Dharamshala. Last time, Dharamshala hosted two IPL games, and hopefully, this year, it will host three,” - he added.

Promoting Sports in Villages

Arun Dhumal also said that most talent players today comes from the villagers. He went to the third edition of the Sansad Khel Mahakumbh, a government initiative to boost sports in rural areas began on Monday at the Bilaspur cricket stadium. A cricket tournament involving 45 teams from across the district will run until March.
“If you look at the level of the country, whether you look at cricket or any other sport, whatever talent is coming out today, it is coming from the village. You take cricketers, whatever big names you see, whether you look at Yashashwi Jaiswal, look at Rinku Singh, other players, they come from such a background, where there is no such support or background of the family, but they bring their talent to the field of play. Let me also talk about women cricketers."
Dhumal also praised Renuka Singh Thakur who came from Himachal Pradesh to achieve her dreams of playing cricket for India.
“Renuka Singh Thakur, a girl from our Himachal, was the Women Cricketer of the Year of ICC last year. When such opportunities are organized here, then more and more talents will get the opportunity to show their talent. And I believe that in the coming time, it will be of great benefit to the country and the state," Dhumal said.
