IPL 2026, RCB vs CSK Clash: Dewald Brevis Set to Miss Big Game, Major Blow for Ruturaj Gaikwad and Chennai Super Kings

IPL 2026 brings another exciting contest as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) takes on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, this isn't the best time for CSK despite having a superior win record against RCB. RCB is in good form and has defeated CSK three times in their previous four encounters.

Brevis Injury Adds to CSK’s Problems Ahead of RCB Clash in IPL 2026

CSK has already lost their opening two matches of the season. Moreover, they are without their captain, MS Dhoni, who isn't playing the first couple of matches of the season. The batting department isn't up to the mark either, lacking experience.

One other major concern is that of Dewald Brevis, whose availability is in doubt as he is currently injured and not fit enough to play in the game. He has already missed the previous two matches for CSK, which would've helped the team.

Several players aren't delivering in the current match, including Sanju Samson, who hasn't started off well in the tournament. Ruturaj Gaikwad hasn't made any significant contributions thus far. Shivam Dube is also out of form. Despite Sarfaraz Khan's outstanding performance in the previous match, CSK still require a player of Brevis' caliber.

It has been reported that Brevis will also miss the upcoming match between RCB and CSK in Bengaluru. Despite seeing him practice, he is yet not in the best condition.

The good news is that he could be back for their next match against Delhi Capitals on April 11. He is an extremely valuable asset for CSK. He made 225 runs with a strike rate of 180 in IPL 2025. He is skilled in handling spin and can score quickly during the middle overs. CSK could give another opportunity to Matthew Short in his absence.
