IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals Suffer Major Setback as ₹11.75 Cr Star Mitchell Starc Ruled Out Until April 20

Mitchell Starc will need some more time before joining his franchise in the league as he is still undergoing treatments for his shoulder and elbow problems. It seems that the Australian pacer will take some more time to be back as he will be unavailable for at least three matches.

In fact, Starc hasn't played any sort of competitive cricket for almost three months now. As he has been a part of Ashes and even the Big Bash League for Cricket Australia after playing Ashes, CA wants to keep him safe. That's why he is not available in the current IPL due to injuries.

Delhi Capitals to Miss Starc Until April 20

His absence is quite an issue for Delhi as they require him to play key roles in the bowlers' department. He will definitely be absent against Gujarat Titans, CSK, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. At least, it's a positive aspect for Delhi that they are currently performing quite well under Axar Patel. They have won their first two games in the ongoing T20 tournament.

The fast bowler, Mukesh Kumar, has impressed everyone with the new ball. Moreover, another fast bowler Lungi Ngidi has taken four wickets in two matches. T Natarajan has shown his skills in the death overs, while Axar, Kuldeep Yadav, and Vipraj Nigam have bowled well in the middle overs. Another spinner named Auqib Nabi has made a name for himself in the domestic circuit but hasn't featured for the team yet.

As a result, Delhi's bowling lineup seems strong. However, Starc has something unique to offer, including left-arm pace, experience, and taking key wickets that are hard to replicate.

Previously, Kolkata Knight Riders signed Starc for ₹24.75 crore. Though he didn't play much during the league matches, Starc performed wonders in Qualifier and Final and assisted KKR in winning their third IPL title.

Starc was one of the best bowlers for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. In 11 matches, he took 14 wickets with his best performance being 5/35. His economy was 10.16.
