Inglis not taking Pakistan lightly but believes his team has plenty in its arsenal

Inglis not taking Pakistan lightly but believes his team has plenty in its arsenalPakistan were the winners the last time they played Australia in a bilateral ODI series. They managed to win the series 2-1 in Australia's backyard. This is why Australia's stand-in captain Josh Inglis said his team does not take Pakistan lightly on the eve of the opening game, set to be played on May 30 in Rawalpindi.

Australia have an inexperienced bowling attack

Australia will be without their pace trio of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood as they rest ahead of the side's red-ball tour against Bangladesh.

In their stead, Australia gave maiden call-ups to pacer Liam Scott and left-arm spinner Joel Davies. The two bowlers will be joined by Nathan Ellis, Riley Meredith, and Billy Stanlake, who is set to play his first ODI since 2019, to form the pace attack.

"I'm not going to say whether Pakistan have an edge or not but we've got a lot of talent in our squad. Billy Stanlake has returned after a long time and bowls with serious pace while Riley Meredith is also really exciting," Inglis said.

"Nathan Ellis is very experienced in white-ball cricket now so we have plenty of quality in the group and I'm excited to see what they can do throughout the series," he added.

Not taking Pakistan lightly

Pakistan also defeated Australia 3-0 at home in a T20I series earlier this year as their spinners thrived on spin-friendly surfaces. They will have home advantage once again, and while Inglis stopped short of calling it an edge for Pakistan, he acknowledged his team is not taking them lightly.

"In terms of previous series against Pakistan they are a seriously good cricket team and definitely not to be taken lightly. We never do that. We have to be at the top of our game against you guys and play really good cricket so it is an exciting series ahead," he stated.
