With less than 50 days remaining for the ICC Champions Trophy, the Squad’s announcement is due in the upcoming days. According to our sources, the ICC has set a deadline of January 12 for all teams to inform them about their squads. All team members must share their squad by the evening of January 12. While a few teams have announced their squads, India has yet to do so.
According to our sources, the Indian selection committee will meet on January 11 to decide the squad. Since the last ODI World Cup, India has played only six one-day internationals, which is concerning given the team's lack of game practice as it heads towards the prestigious ICC tournament.

The Champions Trophy is returning after eight years. Last time, it was held in England and Wales, and Pakistan defeated India in the finals to lift the trophy. While it was decided that Pakistan would host the tournament, India sent a note to the ICC about their inability to travel to Pakistan due to security reasons. For a couple of months, the BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board fought, delaying the announcement of the tournament schedule. The schedule was finally announced on December 24.
Till now, only England has announced its Squad for the Champions Trophy. While England has never won the Champions Trophy, it has reached the final two times, first in 2004 and for the second time it reached in 2013 against India. The rain-affected game was reduced to 20 over per innings, and India won the match. England had won the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2019.
