IND vs SA, Day 3 Highlights: Jansen’s 6-for Puts Proteas in Command with 314-Run Lead

Stumps on Day 3: Bad light has stopped play early again, and South Africa end the day in a strong position. They are 26/0 and now lead by a big margin of 314 runs.
Earlier in the day, India resumed at 9/0 and began steadily as KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal built a strong 65-run opening stand. Yashasvi looked in fine touch, crafting a fluent 58 off 97 balls. But once spin came into the attack, the momentum shifted sharply. Keshav Maharaj broke the partnership by removing Rahul for 22, and that wicket opened the floodgates. From 95/1, India’s top order fell apart as Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel and Yashasvi Jaiswal were dismissed in quick succession, leaving the hosts struggling at 102/4 heading into the tea break.
South Africa tighten grip with dominant lead at Stumps on Day 3
Marco Jansen carried the momentum into the second session and tore through India’s middle order with pace and steep bounce. He removed captain Rishabh Pant (7), Ravindra Jadeja (6), and Nitish Kumar Reddy in no time, leaving India in deep trouble at 122/7. Jansen was outstanding, using the short ball brilliantly to break India’s resistance.
India’s tail fought hard, but the innings eventually came to an end. Washington Sundar (48) and Kuldeep Yadav (19) put together a brave 72-run stand for the eighth wicket, helping India cross the 150-run mark after a major collapse. Their partnership, lasting 208 balls, showed great grit before Harmer removed Sundar for 48. Kuldeep soon fell for 19, and South Africa quickly cleaned up the lower order to bowl India out for 201. Marco Jansen was the standout performer for the Proteas as he ended with magical figures of 6/48.
With a big first-innings lead of 288, South Africa opted against enforcing the follow-on and chose to bat again. Openers Ryan Rickelton (13*) and Aiden Markram (12*) saw off the final phase of the day without trouble, taking the Proteas to 26/0 at Stumps and stretching their lead to 314 runs.
