Hardik Pandya Achieves Milestone, Becomes First Indian All-Rounder to Reach 5000 T20 Runs and 100 Wickets
In a remarkable feat, Hardik Pandya has etched his name in the annals of T20 cricket history by becoming the first Indian all-rounder to accumulate 5000 runs and claim 100 wickets in the format. Pandya, who is currently representing Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024, achieved this milestone after scoring 74 runs off 35 balls in his recent match, his first domestic appearance since 2018.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it mandatory for players to participate in domestic tournaments when not on national duty, and Pandya's performance has been nothing short of exceptional. With a total of 5067 runs and 180 wickets to his name in T20 cricket, Pandya has not only met but surpassed the significant benchmark.
Hardik Pandya made his T20 debut for Baroda in 2013 and later joined the Mumbai Indians, where he has been a key player. His first T20I match for India was in 2016, and since then, he has been an indispensable member of the team. His all-round prowess has been instrumental in India's victory at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, held in the West Indies and the United States of America.
Recently retained by the Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction in Saudi Arabia, Pandya is set to lead the five-time champions in the 18th season of the league. His commitment to domestic cricket has been reaffirmed, ensuring his central contract with the board.
