
CT 2025 Points Table: India Storm into ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final with Thrilling 4-Wicket Win Over Australia
India entered the Champions Trophy final on Tuesday after a four-wicket win over Australia at the Dubai International Stadium. Chasing a target of 265, they reached the total with 11 balls to spare.
Virat Kohli played a superb innings, scoring 84 runs off 98 balls, leading India's chase. The team comfortably reached the target in 48.1 overs, becoming the first to qualify for the tournament final.
Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. India got an early wickets as Mohammed Shami dismissed Cooper Connolly for a 9-ball duck. Travis Head had a bit of a tough start but then picked up the pace, scoring 39 off 33 balls. Just as he started reminding Indian fans of past nightmares, Varun Chakaravarthy struck on his second ball to send Head back to the pavilion.
Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne built a 56-run partnership to control Australia's innings. In the 23rd over, Jadeja took Labuschagne. Just a few balls later, he also dismissed Josh Inglis, leaving Australia at 144/4. Smith then joined forces with Alex Carey, and the two put together a fifty-run stand. But in the 38th over, Shami dismissed Smith, breaking the partnership.
Axar Patel took Glenn Maxwell. Alex Carey played a good knock, scoring a half-century. In the 48th over, Shreyas Iyer’s sharp direct hit ran him out, which proved to be an important moment in deciding the final total. Finally, India need to score 265 runs to win.
India lost their openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill in the first eight overs of the game before Shreyas Iyer and Kohli settled the chase down for the men in blue. Shreyas played a good knock, scoring 45 runs, before getting out by Adam Zampa.
Kohli got out to Zampa but not before keeping the chase alive under pressure. Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul kept the scoreboard ticking with regular boundaries, setting the stage for Jadeja to hit the winning shot and take the team to the final.
