Chris Gayle believes that Virat Kohli is the best player in the world, no matter his current form
Chris Gayle, the cricket legend and former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate, has expressed his unwavering support for Virat Kohli. Despite Kohli's recent struggles and occasional lack of consistency, Gayle firmly believes that Kohli remains the best player in the world. He’s confident that the Indian cricket star will bounce back and find his rhythm soon.
"He is still the best player in the world regardless of the form, Virat Kohli is still the best player, the stats prove that how many centuries across formats he has scored as well," Gayle was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.
Gayle noticed that Virat Kohli was going through a tough time but reminded everyone that this is just a part of cricket. He said that Kohli just needs to bounce back and regain his form.
"It's just one of those things that we cricketers go through in patches. I know it is coming at the back end of his career as well, but these things do happen, so he just needs to pick himself up and come back again," he said.
Chris Gayle believes Virat Kohli will eventually break his record in the Champions Trophy
Chris Gayle, the famous former West Indies cricketer, holds the record for the most runs in the history of the Champions Trophy. Known as the 'Universe Boss,' Gayle has scored 791 runs in 17 matches, with an average of 52.73. He also has three centuries and one fifty.
Virat Kohli, with 529 runs in the tournament across 13 matches, is still 263 runs away from Gayle's record to become the all-time top scorer in Champions Trophy history. Gayle remains optimistic that his former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate will soon break his record. He believes Kohli is not only going to surpass him but will also score a century in the upcoming season of the tournament.
"It is easy for him just to get 200 runs. I don't know how many games they will be playing but I am sure he can get over 200 runs, and I am sure he will get a century for sure, so it's just a matter of time before he goes on to break that record," Gayle concluded.
