‘Bowling in death overs is not easy,’ says Rauf amid reports of his T20 World Cup snub

‘Bowling in death overs is not easy,’ says Rauf amid reports of his T20 World Cup snubAlthough the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has yet to announce the team’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, reports suggest that Haris Rauf is not included in the preliminary team submitted to the ICC. Rauf, who fell out of favour with selectors after his horrendous bowling in the 2025 Asia Cup Final, which cost the side the trophy, has not played any T20I since September last year.

Exclusion won’t be the end of Haris’ career

Commenting on his potential exclusion, the right-arm bowler said even if he is sidelined, it will not be the end of his career.

"If I am not included in the T20 World Cup, it would be disappointing, but it will not be the end of my career," Rauf said in a recent interview.

Haris Rauf has had a tremendous season playing at the BBL, taking 20 wickets in eleven games. The closest to him is Sydney Sixers’ Jack Edwards, with 18 wickets and one more game left to play.

‘Death bowling is not easy’

This BBL season was hardly an exception for Haris, as he has performed well in Australia. However, he has not been able to translate the league performances into international cricket. For that, he has often been at the receiving end of unjustifiable criticism.

"Whenever I played for Pakistan, I always gave 100%. Bowling in the death overs is not easy," he said, adding that criticism of players should not be confused with mistreatment. "There is a difference between criticism of a player and ill-treatment of a player," he explained.
