BCCI’s Last Minute IPL 2026 Auction Change Shocks Franchises, 19 New Players Added
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has apparently included 19 more players in the auction list for the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the year 2026, just below 24 hours before the start of bidding for the event scheduled to take place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. There are now 369 players in the auction list.
As per the reports in Cricbuzz, the last-minute expansion of the list is being referred to as ‘unprecedented’ by the franchise and BCCI representatives, so near to the auction in the Indian Premier League. As reported, a franchise official stated, “We’ve never witnessed anything like this before the number of last-minute entries into the list is substantial.”
A few foreign players have also made it into the list. Kyle Verreynne, the South African wicketkeeper-batsman who regularly represents the country in various formats, begins the auction with a price tag of ₹1.25 cr. All-rounder Ethan Bosch from South Africa begins with a price tag of ₹75 lakhs. Tentative pacer Blessing Muzarabani from Zimbabwe, who is famous for his sheer height and speed, also begins with a similar price tag of ₹75 lakhs.
Ben Sears, the fast pacer from the Kiwis, who is the most expensive among the late entrants, begins with a whopping price tag of ₹1.50 cr. Australian all-rounder Chris Green, a regular face in overseas T20 leagues, begins with a price tag of ₹75 lakhs. Malaysian international Virandeep Singh begins with a price tag of ₹30 lakhs.
The list of local players who are the new entrants includes Manisankar Murasingh from Tripura (₹30 lakh), Swastik Chikara from Uttar Pradesh (₹30 lakh), Chama Milind from Hyderabad (₹30 lakh), K.L. Shrijith from Karnataka (₹30 lakh), Rahul Raj Namala from Chhattisgarh (₹30 lakh), Virat Singh from Jharkhand (₹30 lakh), Tripuresh Singh from Madhya Pradesh (₹30 lakh), Rajesh Mohanty from Odisha (₹30 lakh), Swastik Samal from Odisha (₹30 lakh), Saransh Jain from Madhya Pradesh (₹30 lakh), Sooraj Sangaraju from Andhra (₹30 lakh), and Tanmay Agarwal from Hyderabad (₹30 lakh).
Nine of those players, including Murasingh, Chikara, and Bosch, had briefly been added to the auction list earlier before being withdrawn and have now been readmitted after requests by franchises.After this subsequent expansion in the auction list, which now comprises 369 players, franchises get to bid for a maximum of 77 players, which is subject to all teams having a 25-player limit in their squads.
