AUS vs ENG Day 1 Highlights: Carey, Khawaja Power Australia to 326/8

Stumps on day 1: It’s set to be an exciting Test match as both teams were evenly matched on Day 1. Australia ended the day on 326 for 8, thanks to excellent innings from Alex Carey and Usman Khawaja.
It was England captain Ben Stokes who toiled for 19 wicketless overs with off spinner Will Jacks the only bowler with one more over under his belt. Jacks was taken for 105 runs in his 20 overs but he picked up the two huge wickets in form of Khawaja and Carey.
Australia skipper Pat Cummins was back in the lineup along with Khawaja and Nathan Lyon. Steve Smith was ruled out due to health issues early this morning with Khawaja taking his number 4 spot.
The left-hander who will turn 39 in a few hours was lucky to survive a dropped chance by Harry Brook early in his innings but played a well composed knock to score 82 in 126 deliveries adding 61 with Marnus Labuschagne (19 off 40) and 91 with Carey.
Carey and Khawaja shine as Australia reach 326/8 on Day 1
Jofra Archer brought England back in the game right after lunch dismissing Marnus Labuschagne and Cameron Green (duck) in quick succession and finished the day with 3/29 off 16 overs. Khawaja swept, pulled and cut the ball well to hit 10 fours and looked to add another to his tally when his attempted slog sweep found Josh Tongue at deep midwicket.
Josh Inglis got a start and scored 32 in 39 deliveries before chopping one back on the stumps. Carey added 59 with Inglis for the 6th wicket and then 50 with Mitchell Starc for the 8th wicket and moved to his 3rd Test ton - first against England off 135 deliveries at his home ground.
It was Jacks who struck the big blow again as Carey top edged an attempted sweep and found keeper Jamie Smith underneath. Starc tried to farm the strike with Lyon at the other end and has moved to 33 off 63 deliveries with Lyon fending 18 deliveries without getting off the mark.
Besides Archer's 3 and Jacks's 2 scalps, Brydon Carse picked up 2/70 and Josh Tongue dismissed Inglis leaving only skipper Ben Stokes wicketless in a tireless spell. England also took the second new ball as soon as it was available but haven't quite manage to shake Starc and Lyon.
